Have you ever imagined being able to obtain many fruits from a single lemon leaf ? Well that is what you are going to discover today. This trick can be easily used even by those who are not very handy with gardening and plants. It allows you to get tons of lemons.
Find a lemon tree for the leaves
First of all, you need to find an adult lemon tree from which you can collect the leaves. Depending on the number of plants you want to obtain, you can use a certain number of leaves.
Once you have the sheets in your hands, you must sort them. Focus on two essential characteristics : They must be fully formed and healthy without the presence of fungus, mold or bacteria.
To separate it from the mother plant, just go to the base of the leaf, hold the trunk with one hand and pull. Also try tearing off part of the trunk. Once this is done, you can immediately put the leaves in water to prevent the creation of a protective film that will act as a plug.
Choice of container and jar
Now you have to find a container for the leaves. Fill it with water up to about 4 cm and then submerge the leaves. The more leaves you insert, the more likely you are to get plants, since on average one in ten will take root.
Then wait for the roots to emerge from the petiole: always make sure the leaf remains in contact with the water. After 4 or 5 days, the roots will continue to grow rapidly. Root growth is visible after about forty days. After two months, you will have a well-developed root system.
At this point, plant the leaves with the most roots in a pot with a diameter of at least 10 cm per leaf. Add a little citrus fertilizer to the soil and bury the leaves at least halfway. Next, use a sprayer to wet everything well and place the pot in an area where it receives plenty of light, but not direct sunlight.
What is the difference between seeds and leaves?
There is a fundamental difference between lemon plants from seeds and those that grow from leaves. The great advantage of using the leaves is that, when the lemon tree grows, it will be able to produce beautiful fruits immediately. As for plants that come from seeds, they need to grow for at least two years before producing fruit.
